Description
The Church Hall to the Church of St Elisabeth is a church hall and parish rooms built around 1935 by architects P.D. Stonham and A.R.G. Fenning. It is designed in the Neo-Georgian style and constructed of red brick with a hipped tiled roof. The building features two tall panelled brick chimneystacks at the front and an external brick chimneystack on the side elevation. It is two storeys high and has seven windows on the front elevation. The central three bays project and are topped with a stepped parapet. The central window is an 18-pane sash with a cast iron balcony, flanked by 4-pane sidelights and a doorcase with a flat hood on brackets leading to double doors. There are 12-pane sashes on either side of the central projection. The building has a plinth, and the side elevation includes three sashes and a similar doorcase with a wooden cornice on brackets. At the rear, there is a hall with two oculi. Inside, the vestibule has double doors and internal windows with marginal glazing. The staircase hall features a glazed dome and three "moderne" style staircases with solid balusters, along with a further Georgian style dogleg staircase to the right with turned balusters. The hall includes a proscenium arch leading to the stage and a panelled ceiling.
