Description
The Druid Temple is an 18th-century Druidic temple located in Wargrave. It consists of a collection of 45 granite megalithic stones set vertically in the ground, arranged in a circular area approximately 9 metres in diameter. The temple is accessed by a nearly 5-metre long and 1.5-metre wide passage on the northeast side, which features an entrance formed by two large stones with a lintel, and is roofed with four capstones. Near the entrance, there is a tablet stone with an inscription in French. The temple was presented to Field-Marshal the Honourable Henry Seymour Conway by the inhabitants of Jersey during his time as Governor of the island, where it was originally found on the Mont de la Ville near St. Helier. It was formerly part of the Park Place estate and is included for its historic interest.
