Description
Hawthorn Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century, consisting of one and a half storeys. The south side features a timber frame with brick infill and a sarsen plinth, while the north side is made of sarsen stone with brick dressings. The cottage has a thatched roof that is half hipped, with dormers that break the eaves and a central chimney. The structure has one and a half bays of timber framing and one bay of stone.
On the west elevation, there is a weatherboarded extension to the left, along with a four-light leaded casement dormer, three modern three-light leaded casements, and an irregular arrangement of windows. The east elevation includes a one three-light leaded casement dormer and a two-light casement with iron casements to the left. A plain boarded door is located to the right of the centre at the end of the timber framing, next to a brick quoin, and is topped with a plain board hood on cut brackets. The weatherboarded garage and shed extensions are not considered of special interest.
