Description
Mask Cottage is a house that dates back to the 14th century, with a refronting from the 18th century and extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. The southeast elevation is made of brick, while the southwest and northwest elevations feature a timber frame with render infill. The roof is covered with old tiles and has a central brick chimney. The house has two storeys.
On the southwest elevation, there is a gabled and jettied section with one leaded casement window between crossed braces below the jetty and a three-light leaded casement window above. The northwest elevation has brickwork on the left side, with one short and two long bays of timber framing on the right, showcasing curved tie braces on both floors. This elevation includes one window and one blocked early window on the first floor, along with three windows on the ground floor.
The southeast elevation features irregular leaded casements, including one to the left of a central gabled brick porch and three on the first floor. There is a 20th-century extension on the northeast side. Inside, the first floor of the jettied end has a moulded crown post that is braced in four directions.
