Description

Braes Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage with alterations from the 18th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill, and has a half-hipped thatched roof. The building is rectangular, with three bays, and has one and a half storeys. There is an end chimney to the east and a ridge chimney to the west of the central bay. The thatch slopes around the eaves, with a dormer window in each bay. The north elevation features a 2-light casement window in the east bay, a half-glazed lean-to porch, a central 2-light casement, and a 2-light casement to the west. The west elevation displays a tall queen post truss within the gable.
