LAMBOURN HIGH STREET (west side) UPPER LAMBOURN The Old Manor House and the former Methodist Chapel (now a garage)

GV II

House. Mid C16 with C17 and modern additions. Sarsen and flint rubble with square chalk quoins and some brick dressings, old tile roof. Two chimneys, rubble and brick on ridge. L shaped plan. Modern extension on end of cross wing. Two storeys and attic at either end of main wing. Windows of various dates, iron casements with leaded lights in timber frames. Road front - irregular, with shutters to ground floor windows.

Interior: main beam in ground floor room moulded with double roll and roll and curve stop. Heavy timber framed partitions, wind braces visible in main bedroom. Two C19 spiral stairs in possible positions of earlier stairs.

Adjacent is former Methodist Chapel, now used as garage. Simple gabled old tile roof, rubble and brick walls and memorial tablet in gable.
