Description

The Old Manor House and the former Methodist Chapel, now a garage, is a house dating from the mid-16th century, with 17th-century and modern additions. It is constructed from sarsen and flint rubble, featuring square chalk quoins and some brick dressings, topped with an old tile roof. The building has two chimneys made of rubble and brick located on the ridge and has an L-shaped plan, with a modern extension at the end of the cross wing. The house is two storeys tall with an attic at either end of the main wing. The windows are of various dates, featuring iron casements with leaded lights set in timber frames. The road-facing side is irregular, with shutters on the ground floor windows.

Inside, the main beam in the ground floor room is moulded with a double roll and roll and curve stop. There are heavy timber-framed partitions, and wind braces are visible in the main bedroom. Two 19th-century spiral staircases are located in what may have been the positions of earlier stairs.

Adjacent to the house is the former Methodist Chapel, which is now used as a garage. It has a simple gabled old tile roof and walls made of rubble and brick, along with a memorial tablet in the gable.
