Description
The Forge is a building dating from around 1700, with 20th-century additions. It features a timber frame that has been faced with later red brick. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there is a gabled semi-dormer on the left side that has planted timbers and a two-leaf door, with the bottom leaf boarded and the top leaf glazed. There is a 20th-century ridge stack that is off-centre to the left, and another ridge stack on the wing to the right at the rear. The gable end to the right has 20th-century waney edged weatherboarding. Originally, the building had an L-plan with three framed bays and is one storey high. On the right side, there are two casements flanking an off-centre two-leaf boarded door. To the left, there is a 20th-century brick addition with a tile roof and an end stack to the left, also one storey high, featuring two 2-light leaded casements flanking a one-light leaded casement. Inside, there is one queen post and one queen strut truss, and some forge equipment remains.
