Description

The Pilgrim Fathers' Memorial was erected in 1913, designed by R M Lucas. It commemorates the departure of the "Mayflower" and "Speedwell" from Southampton Quay in 1620. The memorial features a tall rough-faced stone column set on a base with five stepped stages. At the top, there is a domed cupola supported by light slender fluted Ionic columns. The dome is adorned with mosaic work and is topped with a bronze model of the "Mayflower".
