Description
The drinking fountain, dated 1865, is a large stone structure approximately 15 feet high, set on three stone steps. It has a square shape and rests on a rusticated base, topped with a dome and a cross. Each side features pediments with acroteria medallions and engaged Corinthian columns. There are four semi-circular stone drinking bowls, resembling stoups, two of which have bronze lion head masks. Additionally, four oval relief panels are present. On one side, there is a stone animal drinking trough. This fountain was presented to the town by Councillor John Ransom and includes the inscription "Drink but waste not."
