Description

The Ive Tomb, located approximately 3 metres to the north of the north aisle of the Church of St. Mary, is a chest tomb dated 1817. It is constructed from ashlar and features a moulded base, panelled ends, and panelled sides with a central fluted post. The tomb has square corner piers with horizontal fluting and a fluted frieze adorned with paterae. Surrounding the tomb is a wrought iron railing with plain railings and standards topped with urn finials. The tomb is inscribed in memory of Mr. Edward Ive of this parish, who died in January 1817 at the age of 76 years.
