Description
The Red Lion Public House is a public house dating from the mid to late 16th century, with 20th-century additions to the rear. It features a rendered timber frame, which is exposed at the right-hand end, and has an old tile roof. The building consists of three framed bays and is two storeys high. The first floor is jettied and supported by four small curved brackets. There is an end stack on the left, a very large end stack on the right, and a ridge stack that is off-centre to the right. On the first floor, there are two 3-light casements to the left and one 2-light casement to the right. The central ground floor has a 2-light casement with boarded shutters, a 3-light casement to the right, and a horizontal sliding sash to the left, also with a boarded shutter. There are boarded doors located between the first and second windows from the left and at the far right. Inside, there is a large 16th-century arched brick fireplace.
