Description

This terrace of three houses was built in the early 19th century and has since been subdivided into flats and houses. The houses are constructed of stucco with a slate roof, and number 130 has wrought iron railings to its first-floor windows, while number 132 features a timber colonnade and balcony.

The terrace is three storeys high with a basement and a hipped roof. Number 132 has a two-storey side and rear extension with a pitched roof. The main elevation facing Castle Hill is loosely symmetrical, with number 130, the central property, projecting slightly and topped with a pediment, flanked by the narrower frontages of numbers 128 and 132. A decorative band runs horizontally across the first-floor sill level of all three houses.

Number 128 has a two-pane sash window on each floor, and a recessed round-arched doorway with a six-panelled door and a fanlight above. Number 130 has two modern sash windows on each floor; those on the first floor are full-height, rising above the decorative band and feature decorative iron balconies. The doorway, located on the left (western) side, is similar to that at number 128. Number 132 has a single two-pane sash window on each floor and the narrowest frontage. The west elevation steps out in three sections, starting with a two-storey bay window with three two-pane sash windows on each floor. To the north (rear) is a three-storey square projection with the main entrance to number 132 sheltered by a timber porch and a tall sash window illuminating a staircase. Adjoining to the north is a two-storey extension that steps out further to the west, featuring a full-height bay window flanked by ground-floor timber colonnades with decorative balconies above. The rear elevation is of exposed red brick with some rendered sections on the ground floors of numbers 130 and 132, and contains a variety of sash windows under brick flat arches, including two large ten-over-ten sash windows at numbers 128 and 130.
