Description
Nos. 127, 128, and 129 High Street are three houses, now converted into a house and flats, built in the early 19th century. The buildings are finished in stucco and feature two plain tile hipped roofs for Nos. 127 and 127A, while the roof of No. 129 is concealed. Nos. 127 and 127A have two brick stacks on the left side, and No. 129 has a brick stack on its left side as well.
The properties are three storeys high with a total of four bays across the front: two for Nos. 127 and 127A, and one each for Nos. 128 and 129. The entrances to Nos. 127 and 127A are modern, with a door at the centre for No. 127 and another on the right for No. 127A, both set within a 20th-century glazed front that is framed by a late 19th-century shop front surround. No. 128 features a six-panel door on the right, flanked by pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, with a four-pane sash window to the left. No. 129 also has a six-panel door on the right with an overlight, pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice, alongside a twelve-pane sash window to the left that has shutters.
Nos. 127 and 127A have two twelve-pane sash windows on both the first and second floors, an eaves band, a cornice, and a coped parapet. No. 128 boasts a late 19th-century tripartite canted oriel window at the first floor, featuring sashes and diamond-panelled pilasters that separate the lights, a panelled apron below, and a frieze with a moulded cornice above. The second floor has a four-pane sash window with an attached window guard, a moulded eaves band, a cornice, and a parapet blocking course. No. 129 has a twelve-pane sash window on the first floor and a nine-pane sash on the second floor, along with a corniced eaves band and a parapet blocking course. The left return of No. 127 is finished with mathematical tiles and features a reset late 18th-century war memorial topped with an urn. The interior has not been inspected.
