Description
Number 132 1/2 is a house that has been converted into offices, along with its attached railings. It dates from the mid-19th century and features a stuccoed exterior. The building has three storeys and a basement, with five bays. The central three bays have a rusticated ground floor. The projecting end bays are flanked by pilaster strips adorned with a bold Greek key pattern on the first and second floors.
The entrance features a four-panelled door with glazed upper panels and a segmental fanlight, located within porches on either side. Each entrance is flanked by panelled pilaster strips and has shaped brackets supporting the cornice. Between the doors, there are three sash windows, each with 12 panes set in a plain surround, and a panel above featuring wreath moulding and a central patera, with a panel below the sill. Above each window, long shaped paired brackets with guilloche mouldings support a first-floor balcony, which is divided into three bays with coupled stuccoed piers and crossed iron rails. The outer bay balconies have iron balustrades flanked by coupled stuccoed piers with elaborate scrolled Baroque pedestal features topped with a spike ball at the base of the pilaster strips.
Leading off the first-floor balconies are five French casements, each set in a plain surround with shaped carved brackets supporting the cornice. On the second floor, there are five sash windows, each with four panes set in a plain surround, featuring wreath moulding on the sills with paired console brackets. The building also has block cornices and a heavy moulded projecting cornice with paired shaped brackets above the second floor. A parapet with flanking piers at the corners of the outer bays completes the exterior.
Inside, the corridor features Neo-Classical mythological relief plaques. The property also includes heavy cast-iron railings and gates at the pavement.
