Description
The Vicarage is a 17th century building with later alterations, located on the south side of High Street. It is constructed of brick and features a tiled roof that is hipped at the west and gabled at the east end. The front is finished in 19th century stucco and the building has two storeys plus a dormer, with four windows. The entrance includes a panelled door and a fanlight set in a reveal, framed by a modern surround with pilasters and an open pediment. On the west side, there are brick buttresses.
The original 17th century section contains four rooms on each floor. The two rooms on the east side are separated by the staircase, while those on the west are divided by a large chimney. The 17th century staircase remains intact, and there is a 17th century doorway on the first floor featuring a heavy panelled door, an architrave surround, and a pediment. Much of the early woodwork has survived. The building underwent alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries when it was used as a school.
