Description

The stable block to the Rectory, built in 1834, is located on Church Green Road in Bletchley. It was restored and extended at the rear between 1952 and 1953. This two-storey structure is made of yellow brick and features a slightly gothic design. The entrance front has three bays, with a broad, shallow gabled break at the east end. There are two gabled half dormers that project out, supported by moulded stucco bases, and they break through the eaves. On the ground floor to the left, there is a canted bay window with chamfered stucco reveals. The gabled break includes a two-light window on the first floor and a three-light window on the ground floor, both with thin mullions and a drip moulding above the first-floor window. The entrance door is double glazed with fielded panes and studding, topped by a four-centred marginal glazed fanlight, all set within a stepped chamfered surround that has a flat dropped label mould above and panelled spandrels. The east front is similar but features modern casements on the ground floor and lacks a fanlight over the door. Additionally, there is a single-storey stable block surrounding a small yard to the west, also constructed of yellow brick with slate roofs, which includes one doorway featuring a reset keystone dated 1754.
