Description

A pair of cottages dating from the 17th to 18th centuries. They are constructed of rubble stone, with a thatched roof. A stone chimney is located at the south end, while brick is used in the centre and north end. The cottages are single-storey, with a modern central door in each, flanked by three-light casement windows. There is a four-light window on the extreme right-hand side. Upper windows are visible, two-light in design and cut into the thatch – two are present at No. 40, and three at No. 42. A modern one-storey extension is attached to No. 40, and a one-storey brick and slate lean-to is on the south gable of No. 42.
