Description

This building comprises a bank, dating from approximately 1900 to 1910. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and brick, with brick stacks and a tiled roof. The architectural style is Edwardian Baroque. The plan is of a double-depth format.

The exterior presents a three-storey facade with a six-window range. The ground floor is rusticated, featuring a moulded band, sill bands, and an overhanging cornice with modillion detailing. Projecting end bays flank the building. Segmental arches with keystones mark the ground-floor openings; the left-hand opening has a coved surround leading to a double-panelled door, whilst the ground floor windows are boarded. The right-hand bay contains a segmental-arched window. Upper floor windows are keyed and segmental-arched, with 9/1-pane sashes on the first floor and smaller 6/9-pane sashes on the second floor. The interior remains uninspected.

The building is accompanied by attached cast-iron area railings to the front. It is listed for its architectural merit, representing a capable example of Edwardian Baroque bank design.
