Description
The wall extending northeast from Upnor Castle along the River Medway is an early 19th-century structure made of brick with a stone coping. It features four blocked openings along its length. This wall was part of the seaward boundary of the former ordnance store at Upnor and is a prominent feature along the river. It is historically significant as it relates to Upnor Castle, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and B Magazine, which has been recommended for listing due to its connection to ordnance yards. The wall originally had openings for powder piers that served floating magazines, which were important to the development of naval ordnance sites.
