Description

Upnor Castle House is a house dating from the mid-17th century to the north, with a later 18th-century garden front to the south. The north side is built of red brick, while the south side is yellow brick, both with slate hipped roofs. The garden front is two storeys high, featuring a coped brick parapet and three flat-headed dormers with stacks to the rear. It has a regular five-window arrangement with glazing bar sashes. A wide tripartite sash window is centrally placed on the first floor, and below it is a segmental-arched recess containing a half-glazed door flanked by narrow windows. The entrance front is characterized by five complex gables, the central one shaped over a two-story porch.
