Description

ADELAIDE GROVE 1. 5270 East Cowes Frank James Memorial Hospital SZ 59 NW 5/1 II 2. A purpose built hospital of 1903 in Dutch style. Built of red brick with tiled roof. Central block with 2 projecting wings. The central block is of one storey and attics. Four dormers with wooden bargeboards and large central gable with wooden bargeboards and plaque with inscription and carved figures. This is surmounted by a square cupola with sundial, lantern and weathervane with gilded ship. Four centred archway. The projecting wings are of 2 storeys and attics red brick with end gables which are crowstepped. Five gabled dormers to each wing. Clustered and moulded brick chimneystacks. Verandah to ground floor on all sides.
