Description

The wall, dating from 1931 and designed by Robert Cromie, serves as a boundary to Barford Court. Constructed of grey-brown bricks laid in a Flemish bond pattern, it features flat sandstone coping. Hardwood doors and gates are also incorporated. The wall is approximately 2 metres in height and oval in plan, stepped up in places. A pedestrian entrance is located from Kingsway, a service door exists to the west, and a vehicle entrance is flanked by pedestrian doors to the east. The wall's flat coping is interrupted by recessed panels arranged in groups of four. The coping steps up around the round-headed main pedestrian entrance, while square piers define the vehicle and service entrances. The doors and gates are of ledged and boarded wood, displaying an incised wheatear design. The detailing is consistent with that of Barford Court itself.
