Description
This is a lamp post located near the entrance to Chichester Terrace in Brighton. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and was converted to an electric light standard in the early 20th century. The lamp post is made of cast iron and features a fluted tapering shaft that rises from the pavement to a cylindrical impost block. At the top of the shaft, there is a single maintenance arm that projects outwards at a right angle. From a rectangular circuit box, a swan-necked arm extends with a scroll bracket, supporting a shallow dish reflector.
