Description
The Church of All Saints is a parish church located on Old Church Road in Chingford, E4. Its nave has origins dating back to the 12th century, while the south aisle was added in the late 13th century. The west tower and chancel were constructed in the 15th century, and the south porch was built in the 16th century. The church underwent restoration in 1929 by Charles C Winmill. The building features rubblestone and 16th-century brick, with parts rendered, and has a steeply pitched plain tile roof. The nave consists of three bays with aisles and no clerestory, and the chancel is slightly lower. The western tower has Perpendicular window tracery, with three-light windows in the nave, two-light windows in the chancel, and a three-light window in the east. Inside, there are pointed arches in the arcade supported by round piers, and an early 20th-century king post roof. The chancel contains several sculpted wall monuments from the 16th century and later, dedicated to the Heathcoate, Legh, and other families.
