Description
The Bull and Crown Public House is a large public house built in 1898, showcasing a Second Empire style. It features red brick and buff terracotta construction, with tall slated mansard roofs extending to the eaves. The building has two storeys plus a prominent dormer storey, arranged in four bays, with the outer bays slightly advanced. These are connected by a further advanced ground floor canopy, which is supported by square Corinthian panelled piers.
The windows are square-headed, with mullioned and transomed designs, featuring terra-cotta architraves and arranged in two and three lights; the outer bays are pilastered. A heavy modillion cornice runs along the top, while the outer bays have two tiers of dormers, with the upper tier featuring pedimented round-headed windows. The inner bays have a single tier of dormers, each topped with small semi-circular pediments. The dormer pediments are crowned with finials, and there is a terracotta balustrade above the cornice, extending to the colonnade and the outer bays. The interior has not been seen.
