Description

St Margarets is a detached house, primarily dating to the early 19th century, though with earlier origins. The exterior is constructed of yellow brick, with some plum brick, and features an old tiled roof with a steep pitch to all eaves except for the left-hand section, which has a parapet. The house is composed of three adjoining sections, each two storeys high (of varying heights) and containing two main bays. A centrally located, cambered entrance has been blocked. The windows have square heads with gauged arches and are mostly casement windows with glazing bars, although the left-hand section has sash windows with plate glass. The central section has a brick band to the first floor, canted oriels to the first floor, and gabled casement dormers with leaded lights. There is a large central chimney stack and a number of smaller subsidiary stacks. Other elevations of the property are also noteworthy. The interior has not been inspected, but is understood to contain a turned baluster staircase and some simple panelling.
