Description

The Banqueting House, designed by Sir Christopher Wren around 1700, is located on the perimeter wall to the south of Hampton Court Palace. This single-storey building is constructed of brown brick with red dressings and features a castellated parapet. It has two windows flanking a central door, which is topped with a semi-circular split pediment that carries a bronze female bust on carved consoles. The windows are square-headed sash types. A moulded stone band runs along the base of the parapet, and there are two corniced chimneys. Inside, the Painted Room is adorned with artwork by Verrio.
