Description

This is a late 18th-century detached house on Petersham Road. Originally designed to sit sideways to the road, with its primary facade facing south, the main building is three stories and an attic, and was originally four window bays wide. The top story is treated as a decorative entablature, defined by a stucco architrave and a dentil eaves cornice, with a pediment over the two central bays. This cornice is interrupted by enlarged attic windows, and the pediment itself contains a plaster medallion. The street-facing front is two bays wide and features a pedimented gable. A continuous eaves cornice and architrave extends from the south front and onto the north return. A round window (bulls-eye window) is positioned within the pediment. A later 19th-century, two-story extension has partly obscured the original south front.
