Description

The Convent of the Sacred Heart comprises two distinct sections built in different periods. The left-hand portion dates from the 18th century and is three storeys high with a three-window facade. It is rendered in rough-cast with a tiled roof concealed behind a parapet. A console bracketed doorcase provides entry, and the windows are square-headed with flush-framed sashes. The right-hand section, dating from around 1830, is constructed in a Tudor Gothic style using stucco and rough-cast. It is two storeys high, with a two-window facade featuring a canted bay and arched porch to the ground floor. The square-headed casement windows have dripstones and painted inner frames. Adjacent to the right of this is a single-storey gabled building incorporating stucco and brick, with a square-headed window containing painted subsidiary lights.
