Description

A group of four houses, dated 1831 and originally called 'Cumberland Place', located on Kew Road. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a slate roof. Numbers 298 and 304 are each two bays wide, three storeys high with a basement, and feature end stacks. Numbers 300 and 302 are a single window wide each, two storeys high with a basement, and share a central stack. All windows are sash windows with regularly-spaced glazing bars, set beneath gauged brick heads. Numbers 298 and 304 have a single ground-floor window centrally placed, with a panelled door to the right and a segmental-arched top light above; adjoining the lower central houses are entries to rear gardens with modern doors. Numbers 300 and 302 have doors under segmental-arched heads, on the outer side of their symmetrical arrangement; the door to Number 300 has a date stone above it. The group is notable as a good example of suburban development from the 1830s.
