Description
The Waterworks Gatehouse is a late 19th-century brick building located on Thames Street in Hampton. It features a two-storey and attic section on the left, with a gable end facing the road and a balustraded square bay that projects at ground floor level. Adjacent to this is a single-storey part with a slate roof, eaves, and a 4-light square-headed window. The building also includes a square corner tower that rises three storeys plus a lantern. The ground floor has a stone entrance with a segmental arch leading to the waterworks, which bears the inscription "Southwark and Vauxhall Water Company." The first floor features a tall, 3-light window with stone dressings on each side, while the third floor is entirely stone, adorned with a clock on each face and a dentilled cornice. The hexagonal lantern above is supported by columns and topped with a leaded cupola.
