Description

40 High Street is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall. The ground floor features an early 20th-century shop front. The upper floors are constructed of yellow brick and each has three sash windows, along with a narrow blind window to the right on each floor. The windows have flat gauged brick heads, and there is a stucco cornice and blocking course at the top. The building has a slate roof that extends to a parapet. A square lantern light, which likely dates from a later period, straddles the roof and adds some interest to the structure.
