Description
The Pavilion and Clubhouse is a sports pavilion built in 1935 by architects Brian L. Sutcliffe and H. Colin Farmer. It is constructed of reinforced concrete and features a tiered spectator stand beneath a cantilever roof. The ground floor includes a bar with curved Crittall windows, a central refreshment room with five windows overlooking the playing field, and various associated amenities. The original asbestos sheeting roof has been replaced by the time of inspection. There are offices located at the rear of the first floor. A single-storey block at the back contains changing rooms, washing facilities, and a boiler room. This pavilion is noted for its structural interest and as an example of a private sports pavilion influenced by the Modern Movement. It was built for the University College School Old Boys Club and opened in September 1935.
