Description
East End Farm Cottage is an early 15th-century hall house located on Moss Lane in Pinner. It is timber-framed with whitened brick infill and has one and a half storeys. The cottage features one modern casement window on each side of a 16th-century timber gabled porch and an original doorway. There is also a dormer to the right and a tall, steep, uneven roof covered with old tiles. An external chimney on the right has three offsets, several strings, and a single diagonally-set stack on a moulded brick base. Originally, it was a two-bay open hall house with flanking storeyed wings, although the left-hand wing has not survived. Notably, the cottage retains a screens passage and smoke-bay, which are extremely rare survivals, as well as a fine early 17th-century decorative wall painting on the right-hand wall of the ground floor's right-hand room.
