Description
The Church of St John the Baptist, located on Church Lane in Pinner, is a Grade II* listed building. It was largely built in the 14th century and was consecrated in 1321, although the plan and parts of the north-east wall may date back to the 13th century. The church features flint and ironstone quoins, a four-bay nave, aisles, narrow transepts, and a long chancel. The east window and the west tower were added in the 15th century. The church underwent extensive restoration in the early 19th century and again in 1880 by J L Pearson, during which dormer windows were added to the new roof. Inside, there is a monument to Sir Christopher Clitherow, who died in 1685. The tower, which is prominent from High Street, includes a large 18th-century clock face, complete with a pediment and fluted pilasters.
