Description
The Peachey Tomb, located south of the west entrance to the churchyard of the Parish Church of St Mary, is a Grade II listed structure. It features a horizontal stone slab resting on a low brick base, which is protected by an iron cage. The tomb is dedicated to John Peachey, who died in 1780, his sister Elizabeth and brother Daniel, both of whom died in 1804, and William, who died in 1831. This site is historically significant as it is noted to be where the poet Lord Byron composed some of his early verses, which he later referred to as "my favourite spot."
