Description
Kenton Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, built around 1808 to the designs of William Loudon and Robert Abraham. It features Flemish bond red brick and a hipped slate roof, with brick ridge and end stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-bay front that was extended to four bays by the addition of a bay to the right shortly after 1808. The ground floor has flat brick arches over a 20th-century door and 20th-century windows, which are recessed with segmental gauged brick arches. The eaves are supported by twin brackets. The rear elevation is similar to the front. In the mid-19th century, two and one-storey bays were added to the right, featuring cambered brick arches over the windows. Inside, there are panelled doors and a dog-leg staircase with a landing. Kenton Lane Farm was leased by William Loudon in 1808, and the buildings were immediately replanned around a courtyard, with the land managed and cultivated according to the latest agricultural techniques.
