Description
The London Coal Duty Marker, located on the county boundary immediately northwest of Burnt Oak Farm, was erected in 1861. It was cast by Henry Grissell at the Regents Canal Ironworks. This cast iron square pier stands one and a half metres high and is painted white, featuring chamfered corners and a pyramid top. The necking of the marker displays the City of London crest, while a raised panel on the front face of the shaft is inscribed with the raised lettering 'Act 24 and 25 Vict. Cap 42'. This marker indicates the extent of coal duty to the boundary of the Metropolitan Police District.
