Description
The Church of St Anselm, located in Hatch End, was built in 1895 by architect E Jones. It features a flint exterior accented with red brick banding and has a long, unbroken tile roof that covers both the chancel and nave, with full-length aisles. A notable Arts and Crafts rood screen, designed by Charles Spooner in 1901, is present inside the church. The church is particularly recognized for its stained glass windows created by Louis Davis, who resided in Hatch End. Significant windows include the east window from 1903 with seven lights, baptistry windows from 1927, a south-west window with three lights from 1915, and the eastern apse of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit featuring seven lights and a memorial to William Blake from 1910. Additionally, there is a second four-light window in the north aisle from 1933 and an easternmost four-light window in the south aisle from around 1905, along with a five-light west window by Selwyn Image from 1915.
