Description

Lamb’s Cottage is a late 17th or early 18th century cottage of two storeys and an attic, originally with two windows. It has a slated mansard roof with a dormer. The front of the building is covered in 19th-century incised stucco and features a parapet. It has sash windows with broad frames and glazing bars. The entrance has a 19th-century door within an older frame, surmounted by a cornice hood supported on brackets. The cottage is designated as a building of group value due to its association with Charles and Mary Lamb, who lived here towards the end of their lives. Charles Lamb died here in 1834, and Mary Lamb followed in 1847.
