Description

Bramley House, now a hospital, was built in 1750 and features three storeys with a sunk basement and five windows. The building is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings, and it has bands at the first and second floor levels, a cornice band, and a stone-coped parapet. The sash windows have gauged flat brick arches, with some retaining their original glazing bars, and they now have external louvred shutters. A mid-19th century projecting rounded porch leads to a door with 15 small panels in a moulded architrave. There is a left extension added in 1881 and a right extension from 1926, both matching the original storey heights and character. The rear elevation, dating from the early 19th century, is made of yellow brick with stone dressings, featuring recessed sash windows with glazing bars, a Doric porch, and three wrought-iron balconies on the first floor to the left. Inside, the hall contains a good late 18th century fireplace that was brought from elsewhere.
