Description
Ruskin House, formerly known as Coombe Hill House, is an early 18th-century building located at 23 Coombe Road. It is three storeys high with a basement, constructed of brown brick. The façade features five sash windows with segmental heads, red brick dressings, and bands between the floors. There are angle pilasters with red dressings and plinths, along with cut brick Doric capitals. The building has a cut brick cornice and parapet. The central entrance is framed by a wooden doorcase with Doric columns, a cornice, and an entablature that includes a triglyph frieze. The entrance door is an eight-fielded-panelled design. There are two additions: one to the east with two storeys and two bays, and another to the west with two storeys and one bay, which includes a coach entrance on the ground floor. Inside, the house features a fine staircase and a panelled hall with an original marble mantlepiece.
