Description
Boswell Cottages, specifically No 19, is a two-storey building constructed from red brick, dating from the 18th century. It is similar in height and date to the adjoining No 17. The first floor features two sash windows, while the ground floor has a central round-headed sash window set in a rectangular frame. To the left of the ground floor, there is a doorway with a six-panel door, a rectangular fanlight above, and a simple hood supported by brackets. The building has a tiled roof.
The right-hand return front includes irregular end windows and an 18th-century door with a fanlight and canopy. Adjacent to this is an early 18th-century house that is two storeys high and five windows wide, featuring a slightly projecting central bay. It has a raised brick band between the storeys, cased sashes with glazing bars, and a central door framed by a Doric columned and pedimented doorcase, complete with fluted capitals and roundels on the entablature. The eaves cornice is heavy with modillions, and the roof is covered with old tiles, featuring three flat-topped dormers. Further along is a later 18th-century coach-house.
