Description

Boswell House, located at No. 17 South End, is likely late 17th century with an 18th-century front. It forms a block with the adjoining property at No. 19. The building is two storeys high and constructed of red brick. It features five sash windows, with those on the left being slightly smaller than the others, all set within cased frames. A band separates the ground and first floors, topped by a parapet. The central doorcase has fluted Doric pilasters, a triglyph frieze with panelled metopes, a cornice, and a pediment. The door itself is six-panelled, with rusticated reveals and a radial fanlight. The roof is covered with old tiles. The north wall has been rebuilt with a flint facing, and has two brick end stacks.
