Description

The Sheffield Monument, located in the churchyard of the Parish Church of St John the Evangelist, is a Grade II listed structure. It stands 12 yards southeast of the church and commemorates Mary Jane Sheffield, who died on 5 February 1899. The monument features a bronze cross set on a stone plinth, designed in the Art Nouveau style. The cross has a flanged rivetted shaft divided into two stages, with a decorative looped center and foils in the spandrels between the arms.
