Description
The Totteridge War Memorial, designed by Sir Charles Carrick Allom, was erected in 1922. It is made of Portland stone and has an octagonal plan. The exterior features an octagonal base with a plinth that is carved with three quatrefoils, each containing a central rosette on every facet. Above this, the pedestal has a moulded base and cornice, inscribed with the names of casualties from the First and Second World Wars (1914-1919 and 1939-1945). The memorial includes a moulded socket stone that supports a tapering shaft, which has hollow facets separated by keel moulding at the corners. The shaft is capped with a quatrefoil on each facet, each also featuring a central rosette, and is topped by a foliated Celtic cross.
