Description

A grand terrace of houses, dating from the early 19th century, is situated on the north side of Eaton Place and includes numbers 17, 18, and 19 Belgrave Place, along with an adjoining mews arch. The construction is primarily yellow brick with stucco detailing, and some properties feature slate mansards. The design follows a balanced composition, with the central house and the houses at each end set forward slightly. Numbers 3, 11, 21, and 29 also project, featuring a giant order of pilasters extending through the first and second floors. The central house is distinguished by a giant Corinthian half-column. The ground floor is stuccoed, while the houses at numbers 9, 13, 15, 19, 21 have Doric porches. A Doric colonnade is present at the central house, which also has a continuous balcony on the first floor. The windows and doors are square-headed, with gauged heads, sash windows incorporating glazing bars, and French casements on the first floor. A cornice runs above the second floor, with a smaller subsidiary cornice to the attic. Cast iron area railings are a notable feature.
