Description
Nos 9 to 13 on Queen Anne Street are terraced town houses built in the 1760s as part of the Portland Estate development. They are constructed of stock brick with a channelled stucco ground floor on No 9 and feature slate roofs. The buildings rise four storeys above basements and have three-window wide fronts. The doorways are semicircular arched, with No 11 showcasing a wooden doorcase supported by engaged Doric columns, triglyphed dosserets, and an open mutule pediment. Each doorway has panelled doors and sidelights topped with a fanlight.
The upper floors of No 13 have recessed sashes under flat gauged arches, while Nos 9 and 11 feature flat stucco surrounds and triple keystones. A plat band runs over the stuccowork at the first floor, and the sill band is interrupted by lengthened windows. Bracketed cornices are present above the second floors, and the buildings have parapets with copings. Nos 9 and 11 are adorned with wrought iron balconettes dating from around 1800, while No 13 has a plain wrought iron balustrade on a bracketed balcony at the first floor. The area railings are topped with spearhead and flambé urn finials, and No 11 includes wrought iron lamp standards and a link extinguisher.
Inside, the properties retain geometrical slender turned baluster staircases, some plasterwork, panelled dadoes, and chimneypieces.
