Description

A row of houses at 12-16 Westbourne Street, London, dating to around 1840. The houses are constructed of stucco with slate mansard roofs. They are four storeys high, with an attic mansard and a basement. Numbers 12 to 15 each have two windows wide, while number 16 has four. Numbers 12 to 15 feature convex fronts above a channelled ground floor. Each house has a projecting Doric porch with square antae, and a panelled door. Windows are square-headed and architraved to the first and second floors, with cornices to the first floor. Most windows are sash windows with plate glass. A continuous cast iron balcony runs along the first floor. A dentil cornice sits above the third floor, and cast iron railings are present. Number 235, located to the south on Sussex Gardens, has a return to the left. This row demonstrates group value.
