Description
This is a grand terrace of houses located on Eaton Place, Westminster, dating to the early 19th century. The terrace comprises numbers 2 to 34 (even), with numbers 26 and 10, and the end houses, set slightly forward. The buildings are constructed of brick and stucco with slate mansard roofs. They are arranged over three main floors, with attic floors both within the mansards and in a basement level. Each house is three windows wide.
The terrace is characterised by a prominent giant order of stucco pilasters extending through the first and second storeys, complemented by pilaster strips rising to the attic. The ground floors are stuccoed, while the upper floors feature square headed windows with gauged heads and sash windows with glazing bars. French casements are present on the first floor. A continuous balcony runs across the first floor. Architectural details include Doric projecting porches to numbers 22, 24, 12, and 14, and a Doric colonnade serving the central three houses. A main cornice sits above the second floor, with a smaller subsidiary cornice defining the attic level. The terrace is fronted by cast iron area railings.
